Rick Stone joined the Huddersfield Giants in July 2016, when he took over as Head Coach on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Stone first burst onto the scene as a 22-year-old playing for NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs in the 1989 Winfield Competition. Stone then went on to win back-to-back Premierships in 1992 and 1993 with Nambucca Heads Roosters.
In 1994, Stone retired from playing and moved into coaching, taking his first role at Burleigh Bears where he spent over 12 years, winning the league title three times.
In 2006, Stone became assistant to Michael Hagan at Newcastle Knights and stayed in the role when Brian Smith took over the hot seat. Then in 2009, when Smith departed, Stone took the role and went onto spend a further two years in the role before becoming assistant to Wayne Bennett in 2011. In 2015 Stone once again took the helm at the Knights.
Stone also has a wealth of international experience. In 2011 he was named as Head Coach of Fiji and guided them to the Semi-Finals in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup- equalling their best ever World Cup performance.
Prior to joining the Giants, Stone was part of the backroom staff at the Rabbitohs as Central Coast Coaching and Pathways Coordinator.
