Giants hit with Butler blow

Giants back-row will miss eight to ten weeks after surgery.

Huddersfield Giants backrow forward Chester Butler has gone into hospital for surgery on a troublesome groin injury which despite constant treatment has not improved to a level to enable him to challenge for a first team shirt.

Butler joined at the back end of the 2019 season, and has made one appearance in Round 29 against Catalans Dragons. He joined from Halifax but has yet to make a first-team or reserves appearance this year due to injury.

Giants Head Physio Pat Roberston said “Unfortunately surgery is the only long term answer to the persistent symptoms that he is showing.

"The hernia operation which he will undergo should clear his issues up once and for all and enable him to return to full training in eight to ten weeks and be available for selection.”
