Huddersfield Giants won their first ever Golden Point game, winning 16-14 on the final regular season game of the 2022 Betfred Super League season.

Huddersfield would score first courtesy of Innes Senior, with young half-back Will Pryce adding the extras in the 7th minute. The visitors struck back through efforts from Aydin and Tanginoa, with Mason Lino hitting one of his two first half attempts.

The two sides went into the sheds at half-time with the visitors holding a two-point lead over the Giants in an entertaining first-half in Huddersfield's final regular season Super League game.

Ashton Golding thought he had restored the lead early in the second half, but was thwarted by some good defending from Trin in the corner to deny the Giants winger.

Both sides continued to press in the second half to grapple control of an absorbing game - Lee Kershaw intercepted with the Giants attacking to run 60 metres, and the Giants steadily built pressure on the Dreadnoughts defensive line, but to no avail.

Going into the final quarter, the two sides were very well matched the game was played at a creative and energetic spirit.

The Giants, however, would score the first second half points as Innes Senior crossed for his second of the game, benefitting from an excellent move out wide to dive acrobatically in at the corner. Pryce couldn't convert from the far touchline, however, and Huddersfield's lead, their second of the game, was two points with 17 remaining on the clock.

Wakefield struck back with 13 remaining, with Matty Ashurst pouncing on a loose ball scramble behind the line to sneak in at the near corner. Mason Lino skewed the conversion to switch the two-point lead back to the visitors.

It would take ten minutes for the Giants to get an opportunity to level the game, but as a penalty was called 25 out, Will Pryce stepped up and hit two from the boot and levelled the game.

Olly Russell attempted to land a drop goal with 78 seconds on the clock, but pulled the attempt wide to leave the scores level and the visitors to have one last chance and heading up the field. David Fifita and Jacob Miller both attempted to hit the one for Trinity, but neither could manage the attempt, and the two sides would face Golden Point in their final regular season game of 2022.

After just 90 seconds of Golden Point, Wakefield conceded a penalty on the 20, and Will Pryce stepped up to win the game for the Giants. Next up, the eliminator...
