Huddersfield Giants exited the Betfred Super League Playoffs with a 0-28 loss to Salford Red Devils

The visitors got a quick start with a string of penalties and tries in the opening quarter: Sneyd with two kicks from the boot and quick tries from Watkins and Burgess scoring in a first half that was a serious challenge for the Giants. Huddersfield continued to press and tried to get themselves on the scoresheet, but were held up by an intense defence from the visitors. An altercation saw Ryan Brierley sent off after a late shot on Tui Lolohea, and the Salford full-back was sent to the cooler for ten minutes.

Huddersfield went into the shed at half-time facing a sixteen-point deficit and all to do in this Betfred Super League Playoff Eliminator.

The Giants started the first-half well, with a first carry from Sebastine Ikahihifo putting several Salford players on their backs and setting the Giants up to build a meaningful attack. They couldn't get themselves on the board, however, as Ricky Leutele was pulled over the whitewash on the subsequent set.

Salford would get themselves on the board for the first score in the second stanza, with Ryan Brierley connecting with a Marc Sneyd kick to stretch the lead to 22 points.

Huddersfield thought that they had got their first score of the game late on, but Ricky Leutele's effort was ruled out. Andy Ackers scored with the seconds counting to zero, ending the Giants 2022 Betfred Super League Season.
