FINN RELISHING GIANTS ROLE

Since Liam Finn joined the Giants’ coaching staff at the end of September, he has been working tirelessly alongside Head Coach Luke Robinson to get the team ticking ahead of the 2025 Betfred Super League season.
Giantsrl.com caught up with Finny to see how he’s settled in.
“I’m really enjoying it here. It’s been nice to get going and get a few months under my belt. I’ve found my feet and I’m comfortable within the group now. I’ve got my roles and responsibilities and I’m trying to help Luke [Robinson] prepare the team as best I can.”
After a defeat to Bradford that saw a mixture of youth and Senior players, with some notable absentees through the spine, Liam is looking forward to seeing those players return to the side and ensure that work continues to get to where we want to be, come the season opener.
“The attitude of the players has been really good. The Bradford game gave us a lot to work on, and a lot of stuff to fix up. We do have a lot of players to come back into the squad so there’s things to be excited about and things to keep us on our toes as well.”
Reflecting on the Malaga trip, Finn was impressed at how the young guns in the squad stepped up to aid the team when doing 13 on 13. He believes that the quality of the youth on the trip has only strengthened the senior boys and their preparations.
“Malaga was a really good trip. A lot of the young lads that went there stood up. When you’re doing team-on-team stuff, the quality of sessions were dependent on how good the opposing team are and the young lads did that and really helped get some quality out of it.”
Next up for the Giants is another warm up match against one of Liam Finn’s old sides; Featherstone Rovers. He explained what he and Robbo will be looking for during that test at Post Office Road in February.
“We’re looking for improvement. We dipped our toe in against Bradford and a lot of the players are looking to cement their place in the team and they’ll need to step up and be better against Featherstone. There’ll be a few looking to right a few wrongs, but we’ll also be able to add a few more players into the mix and strengthen the competition for places.”
