Huddersfield Giants came out 20-6 victors in their first home game in the Betfred Super League season on Thursday 8th February.

Club Ambassador Eorl Crabtree, who is sponsored by The Burdsey Family, was delighted to see everything come together on the field and off it:

“The first home game of the season is always absolutely huge for the team and for the fans. It’s the opportunity to put on a show. We’ve put in a lot of effort off the field to help that and I think the pre-match light show worked well and really helped the atmosphere. The fans were a bit surprised when the lights went out and they didn’t know what was coming next but I think most people were pleased with the display.

“I think it helped make the game exciting and we’re building a great product here with lots of entertainment. The music was good and we’re doing as much as we can off the field to make a great spectacle and the players really delivered on the pitch too. You could see the fans appreciation for it and it was a fantastic occasion.

“I think the fans always create their own atmosphere with the Cowbell Army, which we really appreciate. They’ve always created that atmosphere and we need to do a little bit more to help them create that atmosphere, we want to give something back to the fans and that light display was something to reward them as they always deliver for us. This was the first home game of the season and we want this to just be the start.

At January’s Sponsors Lunch, Chairman Ken Davy made an emotional speech dedicating the 2018 season to Jennifer Davy. Crabtree commented:

“Ken Davy is a massive part of this Club, he is the life and soul and we wouldn’t be where we are without him. He deserves as much support back as what he’s always given us. The new hashtag (#JennifersSeason) is a massive part of everything we do. For me personally, she was one of my biggest supporters and I’ll never ever forget that and how she, Ken and the Club supported me. I think it’s a huge season for Ken and the team especially because I think we owe so much back to him and the family for everything they’ve ever done for us. We’re hoping for a great season and one that Jennifer would be very proud of.”
