Foster Care

Huddersfield Giants are delighted to support the appointment of new Super League Chief Executive Robert Elstone who yesterday met the media at a specially convened press conference in Warrington. Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis told how the change in governance to the game and Robert's appointment came about which the Huddersfield Club were very keen to see take place.

“The Huddersfield Club has long felt that significant changes to the way the game is run has been overdue and we have campaigned quietly in a dignified manner behind the scenes in order to bring about the change which we and a large majority of the clubs see as the beginning of a new era for the game as a whole. We have never publicly criticised our sport, nor will we, as that damages everyone. We have had our differences with the various bodies within the sport on numerous occasions but we have always put our stance or views forward away from the glare of the public view. We strongly believe that Super League and its success or otherwise is the key driver and income generator for the whole sport and it needed a clear remit and vision of its own to drive forward and fully realise its immense potential for the benefit of the game as a whole. A successful Super League is absolutely the priority and we are delighted that a man of Robert Elstone's standing in UK sport has agreed to join us and lead us forward. His track record and clear love of the game are there for all to see and we at Huddersfield will be extremely supportive of him and the new board of Super League as we jointly forge the path forwards."
