Huddersfield Giants went down to a 27-10 loss in a physical encounter against the Catalans Dragons in the South of France.

Matt Frawley opened the scoring for the Giants from a well worked move, with the former Canterbury-Bankstown player touching down to make the score 4-0 to the Claret and Gold, before Izaac Farrell added the extras to give the Giants a 6-0 lead.

Brayden Wiliame scored after the video referee determined the Dragons utility back touched the ball down despite a challenge from Darnell McIntosh, with Tomkins adding the extras to level the scores.

Wiliame crossed over again after a ball steal from Matt Whitley on Joe Wardle, with the Video Referee confirming the play to give the Dragons the lead, with Tomkins once again adding the extras to make the scores 12-6.

Tomkins added a penalty under the sticks to increase the lead to 8 and could have made it more but for a breath-taking defensive effort from Darnell McIntosh, who prevented a certain try for the French outfit.

In the 36th minute, Lewis Tierney took advantage of an excellent Dragons move to increase the Dragons lead, with Tomkins missing the conversion and the sides going in at half time with the scores at 18-6.

After 2 minutes of the second half, Sam Tomkins slotted a penalty to make the scores 20-6. An Injury to Izaac Farrell caused the Giants to shuffle their side, with Darnell McIntosh going to Full-Back and Scott Grix moving into the halves.

Darnell McIntosh made an excellent break in the 52nd minute but was shepherded out by Sam Tomkins. Matty English was withdrawn after a clash of heads with Remi Casty and Michael McIllorum, in a half scattered with injuries and stoppages in play.

A mix-up in the wing defence allowed Sam Tomkins to cross over for the first try in the second half in the 62 minute, with Tomkins adding the extras to make the scores 26-6 with 10 to play.

A good kick into the in-goal area allowed Oliver Roberts to score, but Darnell McIntosh, deputising for Izaac Farrell in the goal-kicking department, hit the post when attempting to add the extras, leaving the deficit at 14 points with 6 minutes remaining. The final action of the game came with the final play, as Matty Smith added a drop goal to make the final score 27-10.
