GIANTS TURN TO POCHING

Giants can confirm Assistant Coach Willie Poching has been registered to play and is eligible for Friday's game vs Wakefield

Huddersfield Giants Head Coach, Simon Woolford has persuaded his highly respected assistant, Willie Poching, out of retirement and back into the playing environment with an immediate return to action a possibility at Wakefield on Friday.

The 45-year-old last played in 2006, but has been training with the team for an extended period now.

Simon Woolford said "I saw him on the watt bike in London and asked him if he was ready. He confirmed he was, and more importantly was keen to help the team.

"He still quicker than a few we have and depending on today's injury report if needs be he'll make the side on Friday."

Willie Poching said "I've kept in shape and from what I've seen I reckon I can still do the business for the lads if Simon needs me. Wakefield would be a good place to start the comeback trail."

Poching will take squad number 45 as a mark of respect for his age.
