Giants sign Peats and Peteru
Huddersfield Giants can confirm that they have entered into an agreement with Leigh Centurions for a season long loan for Nathan Peats and Nathan Peteru.
Peats and Peteru, along with Robson Stevens, have been subsequently added to the Giants squad for tomorrow's game against Wigan Warriors.
Hooker Nathan Peats, 30, has previously had stints with South Sydney, Parramatta and Gold Coast in the NRL and has played for the Indigenous All Stars, City Origin and for New South Wales in the State of Origin. Peteru, 29, has previously played at Gold Coast in the NRL and for Hull KR and Leeds in the Super League prior to joining Leigh Centurions in the 2021 Season.
Giants Head Coach, Ian Watson said: "At this moment in time, the experience is needed in our spine and we've seen how important our spine is. Catalans have had a settled spine all year and they've been flying. We've won games when we've been able to put our settled spine on the field this season, so we know how important it is to bring experience to that area of the field.
"Losing Gaskell, Sezer, Cogger, Adam O'Brien and players in the spine has meant that we needed to get some experience in to help the younger lads in the spine positions."
"Someone like Nathan Peats offers experience that is vital for the team; he offers 150 NRL games, he's been picked for State of Origin and he's in an area of the field playing at Hooker where you need a player who can lead a team around the park, and we believe Nathan Peats can do that.
"Peteru is a big middle who adds experience to the squad and has offered good performances at Leeds, Hull KR and this season at Leigh. He gives us a different dimension in attack, and he's the kind of person that can take the club forward and offer his experience to our youth players."
