Giants Academy register statement win

Huddersfield Giants Academy 20-18 Wigan Warriors Academy
Huddersfield Giants Academy registered a statement victory in their 2021 Academy Season, beating Wigan Warriors Academy 20-18 at Lockwood Park.
The visitors scored the first try of the game, however Huddersfield scored their first points of the game through Kieran Rush, who profited from an excellent quick play-the-ball from Alfie Schultz to score. Rush then converted his own try to give the Giants their first lead of the game.
Wigan edged ahead again in the 30th minute of the first half, but missed yet another conversion to give the Warriors at 8-6 lead, and would increase their lead again four minutes later, making their first conversion of the afternoon to extend their lead to 14-6.
It would be the Giants who would have the last word in the first half, with centre Connor Carr finding Oliver Peterkin in the corner for an excellent score. The conversion, however was missed and the two sides would go into the sheds with a score of 10-14 to the visitors.
The Warriors would extend their lead to eight points 8 minutes into the second half in the right-hand corner, but would once again put the extras wide of the post.
Huddersfield roared back, however, and after a midfield break found the side piling the pressure on Wigan, Jacob Beer crashed over the line to score a vital try for the Giants - before an excellent George Roby kick found Wood under the posts to give the Giants the lead for the first time since early in the first half. Slater would add the extras and the Giants would hold a two point lead going into the final minutes.
Unfortunately the game was ended after 71 minute due to a serious injury sustained by a member of the Wigan side.
