Watson finalises pre-season plans
Huddersfield Giants will play three trial games ahead of the 2022 Bet Fred Super League season. A home game with neighbours Batley on Sunday 23rd will slot in between trips to Dewsbury on Saturday 15th January for Michael Knowles Testimonial Game, and Hull KRs Craven Park on Sunday January 30th. All games will be open to supporters to attend with precise details on each nearer the time.
Head Coach Ian Watson was pleased to have the games already booked and sorted as pre season started in earnest this week “I’ve an idea how I’ll be looking to use the three games with the squad already and without a doubt at the Hull KR game will look to field a side made up of players who will most certainly feature in Round One.
"We’ve a lot of work to get through before we get to the opener versus Dewsbury so its far too early to say who’ll be available for that one and who not but I do want if at all possible our players to all have had game time ahead of the seasons start in early February. At the moment we’ve had three decent days training as the players bodies get used again to the intensity of full time training but that will pick up quite considerably in the coming weeks as the loads increase.
"We’ve still a few to come back of course with Sebastine, Theo and Chris Hill shortly having their base tests ahead of starting fully a week on Monday which will leave just Danny Levi to come into the UK. He has had his VISA meeting and is waiting on the paperwork clearing and we hope to see him physically in the first week of December.”
