Giants-Robins double header at John Smith’s Stadium confirmed

Huddersfield Giants are happy to announce that the John Smith's Stadium will host Men and Women's double header v Hull KR on Saturday 16th March.

Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce that the John Smith's will open its doors to a Betfred Super League and Women's Challenge Cup double-header, both games between Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR.

Reigning Women’s Championship victors Hull KR will travel to Huddersfield to play the Giants for the first time ever, in the Challenge Cup Group stage of the women's competition. 

Taking place on Saturday 16th March, the women's match will kick off at 12pm, which will then be followed by the Giants Men as they take on the Robins again at 3pm in the Betfred Super League.

This confirmation means that the 2024 season will be the first time that Giants fans will be able to watch the women's team twice at the John Smith's Stadium with the same season, this comes after the announcement last month that their will be a War of the Roses double header between Giants and Wigan at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday the 11th May. It means that the double header v Hull KR will be the first Women's match taking place at the JSS with the team under the wing of the club rather than the community trust, a transition made late last year. To have two Women's games at the ground in three months is a clear commitment by the club to continue to grow the women's game of Rugby League, whilst also maintaining that the club as a place where all are welcome and all can play the fantastic sport of Rugby League.

With both matches taking place on Saturday afternoon more than ever fans have the opportunity to get the full matchday experience here at the John Smith's Stadium with what promises to be two fantastic games of Rugby League. It will also be the first Huddersfield Women's game at the John Smith's Stadium where the Giants women will be the favourites coming into the game. After tough clashes with former Super League Champion Leeds Rhinos, this Challenge Cup match up, offers the opportunity for Giants fans to see their women's team in full flow in what should be a very entertaining game.

While the two women's sides have never met each other in competitive clashes, it'll be an unpredictable yet exciting 80 minutes for spectators alike who will be expecting to see a Giants women's side at their very best!

This announcement also means that special "First 4" ticket being offered to fans for the first four Men's matches at the John Smith's Stadium is essentially a first SIX, as fans with a match day ticket to either of the men's games will also be able to access the stadium for the women's match beforehand;

3/5/24 - Giants v Salford - 19:45 (Super League)
