Giants Women sign exciting Welsh talent Gracie Hobbs

Huddersfield Giants Women are proud to announce the signing of Wales Rugby League forward Gracie Hobbs.

Hobbs, 22, is an exciting prospect in the Rugby League world having only just made the switch from union.

Starting out at Kirkby Lonsdale, she has since been a regular for Kendal and West Park Leeds RUFC squads as well as representing Yorkshire at senior level.

Through studies at Leeds Beckett University, Gracie transitioned from union to league seamlessly, so much so that she has made the 2024 Wales Women's Rugby League National Squad.

A strong & athletic forward, Hobbs has impressed all in her trial period with the club earning her a place in the squad.

Upon adding Hobbs to her artillery, Lori Halloran said:

"It's been a pleasure to have Gracie a part of our training sessions recently. She adds a great level of intensity which is just what we need in our journey to the top.

"Having her in the squad and on board for the rest of the season is a massive boost, adding to an already impressive forward pack.

"Her call-up to the Wales squad despite being a League newcomer is a real testament to Gracie's raw rugby talent and her ability to adapt, I'm sure she will flourish in her new environments.

"We're very pleased to have made this signing and we cannot wait to see how she gets on throughout the season!"

On signing with the Giants, Hobbs added:

"Having played rugby union since 11, I’m ready for a new challenge. Giants have provided me with this and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to play and represent the club at the highest level.

"Learning a new game comes with its challenges however with the help and support of the team and the coaches it’s made the transition a lot easier. I've settled in well and feel as though this is the right place for me to grow.

"On being selected for the Wales World Cup qualifiers squad, the Giants have supported me throughout the process and I feel I’m in the best environment to develop in the game.

"This has all come together at the right time for me and I'm excited to get stuck into it!"
