TWO GIANTS TO HEAD OUT ON LOAN
Matty English will join Super League club Castleford Tigers on a two-week loan to gain valuable game time, with George Flanagan joining Hunslet RLFC.
Matty, who last featured in the semi-final defeat to Warrington, has found game time limited in recent weeks and will now gain some vital minutes at Castleford Tigers, as they take on Wigan Warriors and Hull KR.
The loan is a two-week rolling loan and he can be recalled anytime after the initial 14-day period.
George Flanagan is also heading out to Betfred League 1 side Hunslet RLFC on-loan, who will gain some experience in a professional League 1 side, aiding his development.
Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented on the loan.
"Matthew hasn’t played for around four weeks and is naturally keen for game time at the highest level as the reserve competition simply doesn’t provide what’s needed for a player of his quality.
"The opportunity for a couple of weeks at Castleford cropped up and given we’re currently relatively healthy in the prop area, this seems to be a win for all parties in the short term. Matthew will debut for them at the weekend which will be his first ever club game outside of the Claret and Gold shirt so it will be a great experience for him and one which I know he’ll relish alongside some of his former playing colleagues here.
"All parties will assess the situation after the initial 14 day loan period is up and the break for the International week is upon us.
"In respect of George its simply the next logical step up from reserves for him to a better level and again is a scenario that we will monitor going forward as he looks to move his game to a level whereby he can challenge for a Super League debut, which is his aim this year."
