Huddersfield Giants are looking for a motivated and aspiring Strength and Conditioning Coach to
work within our Pathways system. The role will involve working closely with the club’s Scholarship
team, alongside the club’s Pathways Strength and Conditioning Coach with the opportunity to take a
leading role with Scholarship team for the 2024-25 Season. Huddersfield Giants are an established
Super League side, having won the League Leaders Shield in 2013, alongside finishing 3rd in the Super
League table and reaching the Challenge Cup Final in 2022.


Description of the role:

• Assist in delivery of Strength and Conditioning services and day-to-day operations of the
Huddersfield Giants Scholarship programme
• Assist in the delivery of Sport Science services to the Huddersfield Giants Scholarship team
by way of monitoring training loads via GPS (Catapult) and force plate testing and analysis
(Vald ForceDecks)
• Work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team involving Coaching Staff
and Scholarship Physiotherapist on how best to plan and periodise training, rehabilitation
and education programming
• Assist and gain knowledge of performance testing, data collection and reporting.
• Lead the Match Day provision for the Scholarship team
• Guidance and mentoring from the Pathways Strength and Conditioning Coach, alongside First
Team S&C Coaches
• Opportunities to assist with the Huddersfield Giants Academy and First Team squads
• Attend regular CPD sessions with S&C and Medical staff across the Huddersfield Giants and
be expected to deliver one CPD presentation to the group

Requirement of the role:
• Evening and weekend work (8 hours per week), specifically Wednesday evenings (17:00-
21:00) & Saturday mornings (8:30-12:30pm)
• Scope to assist with Academy training sessions
• Completion and presentation of regular CPD activities set by First Team S&C Coaches and
Pathways Strength and Conditioning Coach
• Professional and reliable attitude to work with good time management.
• Report directly to Pathways Scholarship Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Completion of an Undergraduate Sport Science degree or related field.
• Current enrolment on a Postgraduate Strength and Conditioning/Sports Science degree.
• Experience within a gym environment.
• Understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to learn new systems, including but not limited to VALD ForceDecks & Catapult
GPS systems.
• Clear and enhanced DBS
• Clean driving licence and owner of your own vehicle

Remuneration:

This is an unpaid position. The purpose of this programme is to provide you with the skills and
experience needed to meet requirements for jobs within the S&C industry upon completion of your
degree. You will be provided with the opportunity to learn and be mentored by UKSCA accredited
coaches with years of experience of working within professional high-performance environments.
You will also have exposure to Head Coaches, Physiotherapists, Analysts and Doctors within the highperformance team and build the skills to work collaboratively within a high performing
multidisciplinary team. You will gain valuable experience observing, assisting & on occasion leading
training and matchday provisions.

Duration: October 2024 – July 2025
