HOMEGROWN STAR EXTENDS HIS STAY
Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce that young homegrown star Aidan McGowan has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
Aidan, who came through the clubs pathway system and then spent time on-loan at York, Dewsbury, Batley and Bradford made his first team bow vs Warrington Wolves earlier in the year, has been a consistent performer for Luke Robinson throughout 2024.
His first try came against Leeds Rhinos at the John Smith's Stadium, and has cemented his place on the wing ever since.
Comfortable at full-back or wing, Aidan has operated on the wing after being re-called from Bradford and impressed the Giants faithful with his strong running style, often driving players back and excellent ability under the high ball.
Aiden commented on the new deal.
“I’m really buzzing. It’s what I’ve been hoping for all year. It’s my hometown club too so I’m glad to be staying.
It means a lot to me, I remember coming to watch when I was a kid and to be playing for the Giants now, it’s a dream come true.”
Head Coach Luke Robinson discussed securing Aidan for another year.
"He's somebody that i've pushed for since I got the job, he's one of the hardest workers in the squad, he's the first on the field and the last off it, he works with the scholarship and really cares about the club.
"He grew up in Huddersfield and you want people who know what it means to play for the club, he can play multiple positions and showed his value during this year."
