GIANTS ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

The Giants are represented in numbers this year, and here is a rundown of who will be flying the flag for the Giants, in their respective nations colours

Now the 2024 season is over, it’s the time of year that many international clashes bridge the gap between the end of the season, and the start of a new one for players and spectators.

This year, is no different, with the return of the Pacific Championships in the Southern Hemisphere, England’s Test series against Samoa alongside many other nations squaring off. The Giants are represented in numbers this year, and here is a rundown of who will be flying the flag for the Giants, in their respective nations colours.

Tom Burgess – England vs Samoa

The incoming prop forward to the The John Smith’s Stadium excited fans at the shock announcement that he would be joining the club from 2025. Arriving very soon into the country ahead of England’s two match test series against Samoa, who beat England to reach the World Cup Final when they met last, Burgess is no stranger to representing England on the big stage. He has represented England on 29 occasions, scoring 8 tries, the Knights twice and even pulled on the Great Britain Jersey on 4 occasions.

Tui Lolohea – Tonga (Pacific Championships)

Only one player from the Betfred Super League has been selected for the Tonga squad as they face Australia and New Zealand. That player is of course, the Giants’ Tui Lolohea. It’s the first time since 2022 that Tui will pull on the Tongan jersey, having done so 18 times before.

Darius Carter & Kieran Rush – Jamaica vs Wales

It’s been a breakthrough season for Darius Carter, who made his first Super league appearance against Warrington Wolves in Round 26, while Kieran played 6 times in 2024. For Rushy, he could make his fourth appearance for the Reggae Warriors. Carter on the other hand, could make his debut in the game against Wales on Tuesday

Ashton Golding, who is away with Jamaica at present, misses this clash through injury.
