GIANTS WOMEN CONFIRM U19'S COACHING SETUP

Nath Larvin steps up from assistant coach to head coach and Symon Sutherland joins us from Dewsbury Moor, both bringing a wealth of experience to the Giants pathway.

Nath Larvin commented on his role;
“Firstly I would just like to thank James for trusting me with this exciting opportunity to become Head Coach of the U19s women’s team and also to Jacob Homes for firstly bringing me into Huddersfield Giants to coach on the Pathway2Performance back in August. I became the assistant coach for U19s and now to lead this group of players into next season is an absolute honour.
As assistant I’ve got to know the team over the last few months and I’ve worked with some of the first years on the England talent hubs over the last couple of years.  We have a great squad here with some extremely talented players. I look forward to developing the players both individually and collectively as a team”.

Symon commented on the move;
“I want to thank Nathan & James for approaching me and giving me this opportunity to join the coaching team for the u19s ladies . It’s a great privilege to be back at a club that gave me some great memories as a player .
I have known Nathan for a number of years now , both coaching at junior level with Drighlington and Dewsbury Moor . We have had many discussions about players and women’s rugby and both had the same passion to be involved in the game.
Over the last few weeks I have seen the great ambition and professionalism of the club , and the talent of the girls on the training field . I cannot wait to get this season started and being involved in the progression of the team”.

James Westerby - Head of Women & Girls discusses the new roles;
“It’s great to have both Nath & Symon on board with our u19’s and as part of our women’s coaching system. Nath steps up from assistant coach and I believe he’s the right coach to lead the group. Symon’s values and ambitions are aligned with the rest of the group. Both coaches have great knowledge of the girls game. I look forward to working with them and watching the group develop individually and collectively”.
