MATCH REPORT - WIGAN WARRIORS (A)

Huddersfield Giants were beaten 44-18 by a strong Wigan Warriors side on Sunday afternoon at the Brick Community Stadium.
Luke Robinson welcomed back Liam Sutcliffe, Adam Clune and Harry Rushton into his Giants 18 as we faced the reigning champions on Sunday afternoon at the Brick Community Stadium.
The Giants started in blistering form, as a sweeping move out wide saw Adam Swift dive over in the corner for the opener.
Wigan would hit back soon after however, as a hint forward pass was ignored and Liam Farrell strolled in to touch down underneath the posts.
The scores stood at 6-6, but Zach Eckersley would then receive a cut out pass from Bevan French which saw him cross in the corner.
The Giants would turn on the style and see us into the break with an eight point advantage, as we forced more possession on the Wigan line, and a cut out pass from the returning Adam Clune saw Sam Hewitt reach out to score.
Then came a moment of magic, as Adam Clune kicked high, he was taken extremely late and high by Harry Smith, Jacob Gagai recovered the kick and sent George Flanagan in for his first try in Super League.
The lead didn't last long, as Wigan came firing out of the traps for the second half, Liam Farrell grabbed his second try from a spilled kick that Adam Swift couldn't take.
Wigan would go over again soon after, as Liam Marshall acrobatically dived over in the corner and this gave Wigan the lead for the first time this afternoon, 20-18.
Another try pushed the home advantage out further, with Bevan French taking the ball from the scrum, showing and going at the line and managing to get the ball down.
Adam Swift looked like he'd reduced the arrears, but he lost the ball while grounding as he tried another one of his trademark acrobatic efforts.
Jake Wardle then took a cut out pass and sealed the game for the hosts, after Wigan were gifted another set restart on the last tackle, and they made us pay.
There were time for two more Wigan scores as they showed their quality in the final stages against a battered and bruised Giants, Leeming and Field with them.
Wigan took the two points on offer this afternoon, 44-18 the final score.
