GIANTS IFTAR A HUGE SUCCESS

Huddersfield Giants held their second Iftar last night at the John Smiths Stadium an event deemed by all present to be a resounding success. After opening words from Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis the packed lounge were introduced to Faitma Khan- Shah the Mayor of West Yorkshires first ever Inclusivity Champion who gave an impassioned talk for a few minutes on the importance of Inclusion and Diversity in our communities and some of her experiences. Ikram Butt the founder and leader of BARA spoke and along with club Ambassador Cllr Masood Ahmed kept the evening flowing well in a convivial atmosphere. The call to prayer was delivered in spell bounding fashion by young Kareem Alsous before a lavish buffet of Indian starters, mains, breads and rice were served up . To top the evening off desserts were kindly provided by Regal Foods.
The room was then introduced to Abbas Miski the Wigan Warriors star who during a question and answer session spoke of his Muslim faith and how fasting affected his preparation for games and the importance of that to him. Giants players Elliot Wallis and Jack Billington along with life member David Burdsey were made available for boardroom and dressing rooms tours all of which had a strong uptake with many attendees never having visited the stadium before and certainly never having had such behind the scenes access.
We would like to thank everyone that made this evening a success.
