RUSSELL RETURNS HOME

Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce that Oliver Russell will return to the club for the 2026 season.

The fans' favourite half-back returned on-loan during the 2025 season to guide the team with injuries affecting the side, and impressed as he always does in the Claret and Gold.

He will now return for the 2026 season, a huge boost for the squad as pre-season preparations ramp-up, looking ahead to the upcoming Betfred Super League campaign.

Over his nine year tenure at Huddersfield, he made over 100 appearances and kicked over 200 goals, prolific from the boot and will now return to the club where he enjoyed his best years at.

Oliver spoke about his enjoyment about rejoining the club he made his name at.

"I'm over the moon to be back at the club, working with Luke, Liam and Leroy it's exciting for me, it was my first day back today with the lads and I've enjoyed every moment.

"We all have personal and then collective goals and we're working hard in pre-season to ensure that we have everyone on the field ready to tackle a long season and make sure we're pushing that top six."

Andy Kelly, Director of Rugby commented on the signing of Oliver Russell.

"It's great to have Oliver back for the 2026 season, we had the pleasure of having him here at the back end of the season when we were struggling with some control and he proved his worth to the team then, so it can only be good news that we're managed to bring him back once again.

"Having a player of Oliver's quality improves our group, and especially with him coming from our Academy, we're delighted to have him back with us."
