GIANTS END PRE-SEASON WITH VICTORY - MATCH REPORT

Huddersfield Giants rounded off pre-season with an encouraging 16-28 victory over Hull FC in Brad Fash's testimonial.

Luke Robinson named a youthful Giants side, including numerous Academy and Reserve players in his team for the final friendly before Challenge Cup action.

Hull FC started the brighter of the two sides, with the opening try coming in the corner, as a chip kick was collected and Middlemass scored for the home side.

We hit straight back through Fenton Rogers, as a handling error on their own line from Middlemass saw the prop power over on the next play, Flanagan converting to put us into the lead.

Robbo's side then took the lead, as a crash ball from Marshall Land sent Jack Billington over for a try, pushing our lead out further.

Ill discapline was the story of the first half for the Giants, giving away numerous six again's and penalties which was the only way the home side ventured into our half.

They then took advantage of more penalties and scored in the opposite corner, Arthur Romano the grateful recipient.

Kemp missed the conversion attempt for Hull FC, leaving the scores at 08-10 at the break to the Giants.

Alex Chippendale was introduced after the interval, and he got himself straight into the action, as Milne sent a bullet pass out wide to the young winger, he stepped back inside Middlemass to score.

A fantastic touchline conversion from George extended our lead once again to 8-16.

Some frantic play in our half from the home side once again saw Middlemass dive over in the corner for his second of the afternoon, as Hull FC looked for a way back into the contest, 12-16.

With the introduction of Burgess, English and King however, we took the game away from John Cartwright's side, with quick fire tries from Burgess, who stepped down the middle and touched down, and Billington, who crashed over for his second of the game.

Two conversions from Flanagan saw us lead 12-28 going into the dying seconds of the game.

A mix up at the back and an error allowed Kemp to grab a consolation for FC, but thats all it was as we ran out 16-28 winners in our final pre-season encounter.
