Purple Dog Training Support Young Giants

Purple Dog Training have supported two of our former Academy and now first team players in Jacob Algar and Marshall Land with player sponsorship!

The Giants are proud to once again partner with a Huddersfield Based Business Purple Dog Training, who have supported the club by sponsoring two of their former students Jacob Algar and Marshall Land.

Purple Dog are based at the Zone in Huddersfield and deliver First Aid training, Mental Health First Aid training and Canine First Aid courses in-house and throughout Yorkshire. 

We discussed this with Helen Moss, owner of Purple Dog Training and asked her about what it is was like working with Jacob and Marshall in the early part of their Giants career.

“What I will say is, both Jacob and Marshall were two of the nicest young men. They were so polite. Did they do the work I asked them to do? Not all the time. Did they have their chairs on four legs? Not all the time. But what I will say is, they were polite, and it was hard for them because their passion, as you can see now, is playing rugby. So, to sit in a classroom and have somebody try and engage with them and talk about, you know, sport in general, but also lifelong skills moving forward was hard.

The potential in them, the passion, the drive, and the dedication to become professional players was there, and I knew, I knew that if I could just get them to pass that qualification, that would be the start of their journey that hopefully would go on to get them where they are now. So, I'm really, really proud of what they've achieved, and I hope they're proud of what they've achieved as well.”

To be able to sponsor them, it's amazing. I'm really pleased we can do that for them. I mean, Steve, my husband, the other director, he was a semi-professional rugby player for Fartown, which was before the Giants. So, he has a passion for rugby and always has had. So, this is just encompassing everything that we believe in. It's brilliant.”

We also discussed what Purple Dog offer.
