Match Report - Wakefield Trinity

Huddersfield Giants lost out 29-23 to Wakefield Trinity at the DIY Kitchen's Stadium on Sunday afternoon, in Round 16 of the Betfred Super League.
Wakefield started the faster of both sides, with Johnstone going over in the corner after a looping pass caught out Taane Milne, another coming soon after as McMeeken took advantage of a high kick which was taken by Vagana, and sent out to him to stroll over.
We hit back and wouldn't lie down though, with a super effort coming from Jacob Gagai, taking on two Wakefield defenders 40m out, clearing them and rounding Jowitt to score.
Cole Geyer was the next man to get on the scoresheet, with a similar effort, he danced past Pitts to race home underneath the posts, 10-12 the scores stood with Flanagan converting both.
With less than two minutes remaining in the half, Sinfield took on Flanagan and scored to push the hosts back into the lead, after a huge effort from the Giants in that first half.
Jim Lenihan's men re-took the lead though within the first minutes of the second half, as Asher O'Donnell crashed though Pitts to score, and Flanagan adding the extras put us 16-18 up.
The Wakefield crowd grew restless, and with increased sound directed towards the officials, a penalty was given in-front of the posts and Jowitt called for the tee, levelling the scores.
Our luck seemed to be running out, as from a high kick, Johnstone looked all wrapped up but somehow offloaded and the tackle count was reset, leaving Rourke to score in the corner and put the home side back into the lead. 22-18.
Once again, we came again and Adam Swift burrowed his way over in the corner, Flanagan this time missing his first of the afternoon which meant the scores were level at 22 a piece.
A worldie drop goal from Sinfield around 40m out saw Trinity lead once again, before with two minutes remaining Russell also nudged a one pointer over to put us 23-23.
Then, on the last with 20 seconds to go, Russell went for a looping pass which was picked off and Rourke scored with the last play to seal the win for Wakefield.
Final Score - 29-23.
